Holding the event during the IP iteration avoids affecting the scheduling or capacity of other iterations in the PI. Facilitated by the Release Train Engineer (RTE), this event includes all members of the ART and occurs within the Innovation and Planning (IP) Iteration. PI Planning has a standard agenda that includes a presentation of business context and vision, followed by team planning breakouts-where the teams create their Iteration plans and objectives for the upcoming PI. Remote teams are planning at the same time using video conferencing. The advanced topic article, Distributed PI Planning with SAFe, provides additional guidance and considerations for successfully managing these scenarios.įigure 1. Indeed many ARTs have been flourishing in creating a hybrid situation where several teams join remotely, as shown below in Figure 1. Real-time, concurrent, virtual, face-to-face planning has now proven effective when physical presence is not possible. While physical face-to-face planning has benefits, the unwritten SAFe ‘rule’ is that the people who do the work plan the work. It may not always be practical for the entire Agile Release Train (ART) to collocate however, in our current times, COVID-19 has created a situation where this isn’t an option. They have clearly shown real financial ROI, not to mention the intangibles that happen when the team of Agile teams creates a social construct that is personally and collectively rewarding. Where possible, everyone is face-to-face (virtually or physically), and these large-scale PI planning events now occur within many enterprises worldwide. The Agile Manifesto states, “The most efficient and effective method of conveying information to and within a development team is a face-to-face conversation.” SAFe takes this to the next level with PI planning.

If, for example, the solution contains anti-B antibodies and you have B antigens on your cells (you're blood group B), it will clump together. Similar to the Jagdtiger from the German BR-7.0 Line, the best friend in the air is the Horten Ho 229, which should be used especially at own air superiority. In addition, it has a coaxial, much faster firing 75 mm cannon, with which light armored targets like anti-aircraft tanks can be destroyed and the guns or tracks of other tanks could be disabled. The ‘Maus’ is suitable for most battles on the BR 7.7, but above especial in close-quarter fights in towns, where it can not be easily caught by the sides when used correctly and is not such an easy target for missile tank destroyers and airplanes.Īlso, their large mass and number of crew members often help to survive a few penetration hits, and the heavy 12.8 cm gun (identical to the Jagdtiger) can easily destroy most opponents. A day to rememberįrom Iron Lake to Harnasfjorden, a day that I will remember. Oh, important to mention, you get some wheels to transport your canoe on. It’s searching for the best position to transport your canoe, but it works better when you’ve found one. I have to admit, land transports were sometimes challenging in the beginning. By the way, we sailed ‘clockwise’, so our first day at Iron Lake consisted of 15 km canoeing and 3 km land transport. Luckily we knew the way towards the shelter, so no worries. After about an hour of paddling the map had fallen into the water, without our knowledge. The route was clear and our orientation was good. The weather looked promising and after a few minutes of paddling we could already take off our sweater. With a big smile we started our trip through Värmland. Furthermore, you get a GPS tracker with SOS button, this can only be used if you are in danger! For other things you can just call one of the rangers. Safety is the priority of Preben and his team, therefore everyone is obliged to wear a life jacket. Every time we used the word ‘survival’, Preben had to laugh and said “Camping people, survival is something else”. All practical matters are discussed extensively such as the basics of canoeing, how to steer and how to ‘survive’. The 2nd day is the big day, at 9 o’clock we gathered with the whole group at the basecamp. He is the man who will give everyone a good explanation before departure. This seasoned ex-paracommando personally built the first shelters in Värmland and knows everything about this region. He is 85 years old and survival has no secrets for him anymore. On one hand out of respect for nature but on the other hand because you can get a fine of 530 euros. Leave no trace! You can’t leave any waste behind. This is also the best place to chat at the campfire with a refreshing beer or a hot cup of tea. Finally, there are so-called ‘ shelters‘ present, where you can legally make fire. If you want a challenge, you can follow the extensions. If you have a day of bad weather or don’t feel like sailing, you can take a shortcut. You can choose the schedule all by yourself. This way you sail from island to island through the rough nature on the border of Norway and Sweden. Sounds as a plan, right? There are different routes mapped out by the organization itself, so you can choose from different levels of difficulty. As experienced travellers, it looked tempting to explore the unspoiled nature of Värmland with only a map and a canoe. Now, the organization has many more exciting projects of which ‘ The Canoe Trip’ is the perfect example! This 7-day trip by canoe through the Swedish Värmland looked like the perfect challenge for us. Most of us know the concept of Route du Soleil, where young people have to get to a certain destination while lifting as quickly as possible. When it gets dark The Canoe Trip, ready to push your boundaries (literally and figuratively) Whether its aging baby-boomers who have a hard time with ingress and egress, recent empty nesters who are ditching their SUV in favor of a smaller, more fuel efficient, yet commanding vehicle and then there's me. Their newest crossover seems to fit every demographic you can throw at it. Ford makes a compelling case about the marketability of the Edge. Once behind the wheel and underway, the …Ĭlick the photos for hi-res images. If Ford's designers and engineers nailed anything on the Edge the Vista Roof is it. Once opened, noise is kept at a minimum until the wind really begins to kick up. Copious quantities of sunlight enter the cabin without the much-dreaded "greenhouse" effect cooking fellow passengers. The one piece of aesthetic and engineering glory is the Vista Roof ™ moon/sunroof setup that extends far beyond the front passenger's heads, breaks for four-inches, then continues to cover the rear-seat occupants. Most of the interior is hard to get excited about, with all the expected legroom and creature comforts present and accounted for. On the SEL-equipped testers, leather was standard and over the course of the day, ass numbing was kept at a minimum. Other surfaces however, weren't quite as well funded, with flimsy plastic and Fusion parts-bin pilfered pieces finding their way onto the doors. The steering wheel is adorned with all the prerequisite buttons to control the stereo volume and inputs and, like most of the materials, is appealing to touch. A couple cubbies provided ample room for mobile phones and iPods, including a cavernous center console that Ford claims would fit a "small laptop." On the MP3 player tip, the Edge comes standard with a 1/8th-inch jack that routes sound into the head unit and has a well-engineered notch that allows the cable to protrude out the side of the console and into waiting, if distracted, hands. Some are good, particularly the ribbed metallic dash console that kinks downward where the shifter resides. Upon entrance of the vehicle, no less than five textures greet the occupants, most of which have a modern, up-scale feel. Thankfully, in addition to an 18-inch upgrade, brushed aluminum wheels are an option. The 17-inch chromers were a bit too bling for some tastes, but tied in nicely with the other metallic accoutrements. The corporate DNA can be seen throughout the vehicle, with the chromerific three-bar grille getting much of the attention, it's easy to overlook subtle cues from the D-pillar and beltline that are perfectly Fusionesque. The wheels are pushed to the very ends of the vehicle, the overhangs are short and the steeply raked windshield, coupled with a low ride height give it a sleek, yet deliciously chunky appearance. What's really new about the Edge? The design is starkly striking. The Edge seeks to be all things to all people, but a lingering question is always hanging in the air. But at its core, Notion is a toolbox of software building blocks that let you manage your life and work however you find most useful. We sometimes compare it to a set of Legos (if Legos were designed by The New York Times). It can be as complex as a relational database that stores huge amounts of data. It can be as simple as a blank piece of paper, making writing feel light and delightful. This is the type of tool we want to build together at Notion - one that gives you the software you can mold and shape like clay to solve your problems your way. Sometimes for further developments we will make reference to these preliminary papers because we cannot include their full content in this paper.Early computing pioneers envisioned a future where machines on our desks could amplify our imagination, extend our intellect, and help us model information in ways never before seen. Three of us tended to work especially in the first and second level, and the other two in the third level but this is just a trend. We got five papers and this common paper is the result of the collective work. We organized the ST from an preliminary individual work. These three levels organise our text in three parts and we conclude by some “open questions”. What are the different types of theory? What is a theory in mathematics education research? What is the role of theory in the autonomy and identity of mathematics education as a scientific domain? We want to compare our different methodologies and assumptions in doing this task. We must point out different results of these surveys and these results are depending on the data and tools used in this work.Ī third level is a reflexive level. We produce different surveys and we identify and analyse different roles and functions of “theory” in mathematics education research. The first level is a preliminary interrogation about: how to do a survey? What are the data? What are the tools for doing this survey? What are the criteria? Are these criteria theoretical or empirical? Have we common or different tools for doing this task? What are our assumptions about this task? This level is a methodological level but it is too an epistemological one: our practice and assumptions of mathematics education research found what we do in order to achieve this task.Ī second level is a results level. In this ST, to carry out this task, we will consider three levels corresponding to some questions. Of course, the investigation of this problematique can be different and we can produce different answers. This task defines a very important problematique in mathematics education research but, even if this problematique is clear, its treatment is problematic. The task of this ST is to identify, survey, and analyse different notions and roles of "theory" in mathematics education research, as well the origin, nature, uses, and implications of specific theories pertaining to different types of such research." Moreover, concrete theories put to use with regard to mathematics education originate in several different disciplines, many of which are external to mathematics education research itself. In other words, the term "theory" does not have one universal meaning in our field. On closer inspection, the notion, concept, and nature of what is termed “theory” in such research are very varied indeed, as are the roles, uses and implications of theories employed in mathematics education research. "Notions and concepts of theory play key roles in mathematics education research, as they do in any scholarly or scientific discipline. The rationale for this Survey Team (ST), commanded by the International Program Committee of ICME 11, is that: There are regulations regarding the removal Until the contractor tells you that everything is clear. All people and pets should leave the area That reason, you want to avoid removing another that has Asbestos in it withoutĬourse, should only be done by a licensed professional. Stand burs, and they will get into the lungs and “stick” which causes This is a hazardous material if it getsĪirborne. However, it was not banned from most use until 2003. In building materials in the 1930’s – 1950s. They actually look like the commercial type that were used in hardware and appliance stores like Kingsville Hardware and the Kingsville Ben Franklin Five & Dime store in Kingsville, Texas, when I was growing up.Some old ceiling tiles will still contain The picture you posted in #10 looks like common acoustic ceiling tiles that were used heavily in the late 1950s through the mid-1970s, possibly all the way up to 1979. How they were attached is not a key point. The two keys for your situation are (1) acoustic ceiling tile and (2) in an old house. I’m not familiar with any “acoustic” ceiling tile (acoustic meaning “approximately 12” x 12", which is what they were called in the industry), manufactured prior to 1979 that did not have asbestos in it. If there is no documented proof of asbestos in these common tiles, why attach an asbestos disclaimer in the report? It is just as important to know when not to use a disclaimer concerning a ‘hot issue’ such as asbestos as it is to use a disclaimer properly. Please read my original post…Actually you are correct and I agree with you in this respect: It doesn’t matter whether the things are screwed, nailed, glued, bolted, or welded to the ceiling…that isn’t the issue!ĭoes anyone know if the common, interlocking ceiling tiles that are approximately 12" x 12" (which by the way, are usually STAPLED in my area) have any documented history of containing asbestos? To some extent, using disclaimers all the time gets to be like crying wolf. Knowing when not to use a disclaimer about a ‘hot issue’ is just as important as using a disclaimer properly. Why not? If it could contain asbestos, your client should know. So again the question: ***Does anyone have any information on asbestos being used in ceiling tiles? Something such as a web page or a handout? Something documented? *** I’ve been on the internet and through my files, books, texts,…but never any mention of stapled ceiling tiles. I know about pipe wrap, tape, paste, popcorn ceilings, floor tiles, shingles, etc, etc, etc. My point is this: I’ve been in the building industry over 20 yrs prior to inspecting and never heard that the mentioned ceiling tiles could contain asbestos. The client is removing the tiles…end of story. I know all about the friable issues…These were mentioned to the client. If you read a little further, my original post indicates the ceiling is too damaged to save. WHOA GUYS!.Sorry if the original post was confusing, but please read it again! My question is stated in the 1st sentence: ’Does anyone have any information on asbestos being used in ceiling tiles’. And my library isn’t as large as some–like Keith Swift’s, f’rinstance. I’ve got a huge library, maybe too much, and sometimes it takes a little longer to find exactly what I want. You can vary the content to fit each particular instance, but it must be that way. You’ll have to have a good insert for each and every report. One report is not going to cover all-time. I just don’t want to insert an asbestos disclaimer every time I run into these ceiling tiles just to be safe. In this case, I can tie the ceiling tiles into my remarks on the floor tiles. After discussing the floor tiles with my client, she asked about the possibility of asbestos in the ceiling tiles. The ceiling in question is water damaged from a 2nd floor bath and will need to be removed. If I had to guess, I would date the latest remodel to sometime in the 60’s. The kitchen (where the ceiling is) does have the small (9") floor tiles that I do suspect contain asbestos and will be written up accordingly. Anyone have information on asbestos being used in ceiling tiles? The tiles in question are about 12" square and stapled to furring strips - very common in my area. |
